Want to have some fun and bake with me? This fun, free virtual baking club is where we are going to bake together new recipes from all of my favorite baking cookbooks.
Please note: The Virtual Baking Club is not running at the moment.
Over the past couple months I have learned that if it wasn’t for technology this whole social distancing thing would have been a WHOLE lot harder. And from what I can tell online we are ALL baking a whole lot more! Whether it’s out of boredom, necessity, or just because we have more time to do something we love.
And I am no different! I have been doing the same. And one day (out of boredom!) I decided to organize ALL of my cookbooks…
Boy oh boy. I have a lot. Mmm, maybe close to 150? Yes that is my collection above. And no that is NOT all of them. #dontjudgeme
And I realized as I was placing these on the shelf that I have only gotten around to baking from a few of them! So. Sad. Because I have many wonderful cookbooks to use. Then the lightbulb went off.
Wouldn’t it be fun to bake with these cookbooks together? Now I do love to share the recipes that I make from time to time on the blog from the cookbooks I’ve tried. But I don’t always have the time to do a full well-written recipe post complete with step by step photos, maybe a video, and lots of lots of helpful text. And I didn’t want that to stop me!
So I came up with this idea instead. A Virtual Baking Club. I thought wouldn’t it be fun to bake together? Try new recipes, new flavors and techniques – and just bake just for FUN?! I see you nodding your head. Me. Too.
How Is This Going To Work?
Great question. Over the next 8 weeks – starting on June 1, 2020 (hey, maybe we do more! Maybe we love it so much we keep it going!) I will be choosing one cookbook to bake from. I will select 3 recipes. The recipes will range from beginner to advanced.
When you join the Virtual Baking Club mailing list I (Heather Perine, in case we haven’t met!) will send you a detailed email explaining how to participate, some baking prep help, and a preview of the eight cookbooks we will be baking from.
And then from there I will e-mail you each Sunday the cookbook we are going to use that week and the three recipes to choose from to bake with to download. I will be sharing and baking one of the chosen recipes over on Instagram for you on Wednesday to come watch and learn how to bake.
Virtual Baking Club is currently closed.
How Do I Participate?
Because after all this about baking together. So here are two fun ways to participate:
- Buy the book and bake whatever you want. Hey, I get it. Maybe you want to just choose what you want and bake from the book. I won’t take offense! And not a bad reason to add to your collection right?
- You choose 1, 2 or all 3 of the recipes I handpick each week. You could come bake with me over on Instagram! I will be sharing the recipe I made on Wednesday, but hey you bake when it’s good for you! Even better, get a few friends together on a Zoom call and bake!
Finally, I want you to share your creation! Please tag me on Instagram using my handle, @bostongirlbakes and using #BGBbakingclub. I will be sharing all of your gorgeous creations over there.
So Wait This Is Like Totally Free?
Absolutely! No gimmicks. Nothing. Just good old fashioned baking together. A cookbook club. That’s online. And ALL about baking. To learn new techniques, de-stress, experience new flavor combinations…just have some fun and bake.
What’s not to love?!
Please Note: The picture above does NOT reflect ALL of the actual cookbooks we will be using over the next 8 weeks. It’s some…but not all..
What If I Need To Make Baking Substitutions?
I am no expert in the field of gluten free or vegan baking! If I’m being perfectly honest. And I’ve never made these recipes before either. So it’s definitely going to be an experiment for everyone. I always recommend following a recipe as written if it’s the first time making it. However, if you need to make a substitution for whatever reason I will leave the baking substitutions up to you!
Of course you can always come on over to Instagram and ask your questions there as I bake! If you need to make some common ones, then you can grab my free Ultimate Guide To Baking Substitutions (+ free printable).
Here’s The Schedule:
So I chose eight (out of 150 – this wasn’t easy friend) beautiful baking cookbooks. Some I’ve baked from before. Some I’ve just drooled over and haven’t gotten a chance to try.
Week One: BakeClass
Week Two: Pastry Love
Week Three: Bake From Scratch
Week Four: The Fearless Baker
Week Five: The Cookie Book
Week Six: Rose’s Baking Basics
Week Seven: Baking Gold
Week Eight: Bake Republique
So there you go! There is the 8 books I plan to choose recipes from and bake with over the next couple months. So are you ready to come bake with me?! Let’s get this party started! Sign up below to officially get on the list, and all the details will come straight to your inbox.
