1. Prepare the crust by blending flour, sugar, salt, and butter until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Add ice water gradually, stir until the dough comes together. If needed, add more water. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle. Gently fit it into a 9” pie dish, tucking and smoothing with fingers. Trim excess with a 1-inch overhang, fold underneath, and crimp edges. Refrigerate while preparing the brownie filling.

3. Blind bake the crust at 350°F. Line with parchment, fill with weights, and bake for 15 minutes until edges brown. Remove weights, prick crust with a fork, and bake for an additional 7 minutes until the bottom is no longer raw. Cool on a wire rack before filling.

4. Make brownie filling. In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat, and with a wooden spoon or spatula stir in sugar, and cocoa powder. Mixture will be quite thick.
