Ingredients

For the peanut butter bars

  • ½ cup (1 stick, 113 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels
  • 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (270 g) creamy peanut butter (not natural style)

For the topping

  • 1 cup (180 g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 3 Tablespoons peanut butter
  • 12 Mini pretzels for topping the bars

Instructions

  • Line a 8x8 or 9x9 square baking pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, salt, crushed pretzels, vanilla and powdered sugar together until combined. Stir in 1 cup of peanut butter. Spread into prepared baking pan. ½ cup (1 stick, 113 g) unsalted butter, pinch salt 1 cup crushed pretzels 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup (270 g) creamy peanut butter (not natural style)
  • In a small bowl, melt together the peanut butter and chocolate chips. Stir until smooth. You can do this in the microwave in 30 second intervals, or in a small saucepan on the stovetop over low heat. Spread over peanut butter layer. Top with mini pretzels. 1 cup (270 g) creamy peanut butter (not natural style) 1 cup (180 g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips 12 Mini pretzels for topping the bars
  • Chill in the refrigerator until completely firm, at least 2 hours. Allow to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting.

Notes

  • Storage: You can store these in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days or try freezing for up to 3 months. I prefer storing in the refrigerator so they don't get too soft or the topping doesn't melt.
  • Peanut Butter: I recommend peanut butter that you don't have to stir as it can be too oily. A crunchy peanut butter would also work.
  • Pretzels: Any pretzel can work but I prefer the mini pretzels for topping the bars for presentation. Gluten free pretzels will also work!
