Forget turning the oven on for this crockpot Christmas crack candy recipe! Chewy chocolate peanut clusters that are made in your slow cooker, making for an easy Christmas candy to share with family and friends. Made with just 5 ingredients, and it’s an easy dump and stir crockpot recipe!
If you told me that I would be keeping my oven off for most of the holidays I would have told you that you were straight up bananas, friend. But this year it looks like the Universe has other plans for me. Like your “oven broke, time to buy a new one Heather” kind of plans.
Yes, my oven broke. It’s ok, don’t cry for me Argentina. I’ll be alright. Why am I not panicking? Because I have been “no baking” up a storm this Christmas season. Like homemade chocolate covered Oreos, and some easy stovetop peanut butter fudge, my favorite chocolate covered Oreo balls, and I can’t forget the peppermint bark I also whipped up in no time. Or in this case, some easy crockpot candy, aka “crockpot Christmas crack”. Yes, this time I relied on my trusty slow cooker to get the job done.
If you’re looking for an easy no-bake chocolate treat, check out my Chocolate Peanut Clusters! Perfect for satisfying chocolate cravings or making last-minute holiday gifts, these clusters are a simple and delicious option.

Who needs an oven?! Ok, I still want one. But until I get one that’s working again, I am totally ok with nibbling on this crockpot candy until it arrives. Some friends told me it reminded them of a Mr. Goodbar candy bar. And I think that’s the perfect way to describe it. Lots of peanuts, chocolate chips, and almond bark get stirred together in your crockpot until all melted together.
I then easily just scooped the crockpot Christmas crack onto some parchment paper and let it harden. I did decorate with a few sprinkles or crushed candy canes for a festive touch because ‘Tis the season am I right? Before you know it, I had the easiest Christmas candy recipe ever all made ready to be boxed and gifted to friends and family this holiday!
Ingredients Needed
- Peanuts – I used a combination of honey roasted peanuts and dry roasted, salted peanuts but you can mix and match. You can use all salted peanuts or half salted, and half unsalted. Go nuts!
- German chocolate – If you can’t find German chocolate (which is slightly sweeter than semi-sweet) then replace with semi-sweet chocolate instead.
- Peanut Butter Chips – I wanted a little extra peanut butter flavor so I added in some peanut butter chips, but you can always omit these if you can’t find them.
- Almond Bark
- Chocolate Chips
How To Make Crockpot Christmas Crack
- Put the peanuts in the bottom of a 4-quart slow cooker.
- Layer in the remaining ingredients on top of the peanuts.
- Set your slow cooker to low, and cook for 1 hours. Do not stir the mixture. After 1 hours, stir the mixture. It wonโt be completely melted yet. Cook for another hour, on low, stirring every 15-20 minutes with a wooden spoon until smooth. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
- Drop the candy onto the baking sheet into small piles (about 2 tablespoons each, I use my small cookie scoop to make fast work of this! Top with crushed candy canes, or sprinkles for a festive touch before the chocolate hardens. Allow the candy to cool completely before enjoying.
Recipe Tips
- Make sure your slow cooker is on LOW – You don’t want the chocolate to burn so make sure your slow cooker is set to low.
- Set a timer – The mixture will cook for about 2 hours total, so I set my timer for 1 hour and give it a stir and then let it continue to warm up and melt together for another hour.
- Layer the peanuts on first. You don’t want the chocolate on the bottom where it could burn, so layer the peanuts in first, and then all the chocolates on top.
- Have a few cookie sheets ready! This makes quite a bit of candy, so have a few cookie sheets with parchment paper lined and ready to go.
- Add your toppings before the chocolate hardens. After you scooped the candy onto the sheets, go ahead and sprinkle on your toppings before the chocolate cools.
- Use a cookie scoop. I found it was much faster to use a small cookie scoop and scoop the candies onto the parchment. But two spoons (one for scooping, one for scraping) also works.
- Use quality chocolate. Since this is a no bake recipe, quality counts. So go for the more expensive chocolate chips, it’s worth it!
Recipe FAQ’s
Yes you definitely can. You can mix all the ingredients together in a large, heavy-bottomed pot and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes or so, stirring occasionally until the mixture is all melted together.
This will keep for 2 weeks, in a container, at room temperature or you can keep in your fridge for up to 3 weeks. Or you can freeze the crockpot candy for up to 3 months. Let it thaw before enjoying.
Crockpot Candy Toppings
- Sprinkles – I loved just sprinkling on some festive sprinkles after dolloping the crockpot Christmas crack onto the parchment paper. And this makes a great all year treat! Use any colored sprinkles you want for whatever holiday it calls for.
- Crushed candy canes – Give it a little peppermint kick, and top the candies with a few crushed up candy canes.
- Sea Salt – Or keep it simple and enhance the chocolate flavor and add a sprinkle of sea salt. Love salty and sweet!
